This was incredibly insightful and was able to put a lot into perspective. My issue with the idea of pop culture activism (paraphrased) is that very few understand that it is only the first step to a much larger purpose we must all participate in.
I have been thinking about this and how we can better educate ourselves and learn from moving with the popular movement, to actually changing things and being actionable. I'm grateful for artists and how their work can educate and inspire but as a collective we need to do more. I just don't know how to get there.
I think not relying on the artist’s to be the source of education and taking small steps to follow through on purpose in our daily lives. investing in community rather than celebrity allows for less disappointments
